Channeling Debbie Reynolds.

I’ve been debating for weeks over how to go about writing my blog. What subjects do I cover? What will people want to read? How do I begin? Of course my evil twin who I’ve named Ursula, reared her FABulous head and tried to convince me to make it all about her or Voluscious Wear. Thankfully I put the smack-down and kept ol’ Ursula in check. I mean, it can’t always be about ME. Or can it?

Last week I had a conversation with a friend who is going through a bad divorce. I let her vent. I listened to her cry and I did everything a good friend does. And then she said something that made me want to reach through the phone and ATTACK! The words she uttered next completely made my blood boil. “If I were prettier or thinner, this wouldn’t be happening to me.”

I’m willing to bet that being prettier or thinner had absolutely nothing to do with her husband leaving her. Bad things happen to good, thin, pretty people. Two words: Sandra Bullock. Two more words: Hallie Berry. Her soon-to-be ex is a J-E-R-K and let’s leave it at that. The bigger question is what happened to her self-esteem? Who is this person on the phone?

After I composed myself from her mind blowing statement, I gave her the best advice I had. “Girl! You need to pick your balls up, throw them over your shoulder and get a hold of yourself.” Actually those were Ursula’s words. That didn’t seem to work so I used my back-up advice, “Girl! In the FABulous words of Debbie Reynolds, ‘Chin up. Boobs out. It’s Showtime!’”

Ladies none of us are perfect. We all have body image issues from time to time. And those imperfections are what make us beautiful. They give us character and Honey, the world needs more character. So with that being said, I have decided that my blog will address confidence, beauty, being sexy, self-esteem, body image challenges and a little thing we like to call retail therapy. And of course I’ll be keeping you updated on Voluscious Wear, events we will be taking part in and all things FABulous!
Remember to love yourself!
